Empowering the Future: Orinde Primary School Receives CBC-Approved Learning Materials
The Event Overview
In a significant step toward closing the literacy gap in Kisumu County, Taji Corporate Center (TCC) visited Orinde Primary School to deliver a comprehensive set of curriculum textbooks for Grades 4, 5, and 6.
This distribution is part of our broader mission to achieve a 1:1 pupil-to-book ratio in public primary schools. By providing these KICD-approved materials, we are ensuring that learners at Orinde have the tools required to navigate the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) with confidence.
Why Grades 4–6?
While our Future Minds Book Club (FMBC) initially focused on foundational literacy (PP2 to Grade 3), our data showed a critical “resource cliff” as students transition into upper primary.
- The Challenge: Many students lose their reading momentum when they reach Grade 4 due to a lack of individual textbooks.
- The TCC Solution: By extending our reach to Grades 4-6, we are safeguarding the educational foundation we built in the earlier years.
These books are more than just paper; they are a lifeline for our teachers. With a book in every child’s hand, the classroom dynamic shifts from passive listening to active discovery.— Headteacher, Orinde Primary School
